Hyundai Department Stores, South Korea
This commission was to develop a range of original artwork for a 360 degree campaign across 12 Hyundai department stores in South Korea for their annual ‘Family Week’, featuring a different artist each year.
The designs James Ward developed for the ‘store takeover’ aimed to engage children as well as adults with the ‘you are my hero’ theme, creating an extended family of animal characters and fun environments, such as, the circus tent. The design team then created in-store mini exhibitions for children to enjoy and interact act with, large-scale wall graphics and window displays alongside promotional items for all the family, including children’s books, activity and sticker packs, picnic mats and cool bags. The Hyundai designers also took James’s signature designs to create a number of full-scale 3D bear models, allowing the artwork to come to life for the young people visiting the stores.
